It is an additional responsibility to be a player on a St. Michael sports team.  A student participating on a team must maintain appropriate grades in order to remain eligible to continue play..

Team Eligibility
Before a student can participate in a team try-outs, the following must be completed and turned in to the office.

1.Physical from your physician  (Students who participate in the Catholic Grade School Athletic League are required to have a physical dated after June 1, 2005 to play on any team.)
2.Student Athletic Participation Application
3.Medical History Sheet filled out by parent

Grades are closely monitored and if an athlete's conduct or academic grades are not satisfactory, the athlete will be placed on a two-week suspension.  During suspension the athlete may not participate in scheduled games but continues to practice with the team. The athlete will be required to attend all scheduled games and sit on the bench with the rest of the team dressed in accordance with the non-uniform code.  If grades have not improved after a two-week period, the athlete may be asked to leave the team.

If an athlete receives a detention, he/she will be suspended from the game immediately following the served detention.

Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from games.

Athletic Fee
There is a $20.00 athletic fee per sport.
Students will be charged for any lost or damaged uniforms at the end of a season.

St. Michael Academy began their sports program in 2002. As the sports program is new in the academy each year they will try to expand the athletic department by adding different sporting events. The athletic program is only possible due to the generous contributions received from our Club Sponsors. We thank those who support our effort and welcome you to become a St. Michael Academy Sports Sponsor.

the minds of our students in accordance with Catholic values and to

GOALS

  • To develop within the school a religious education program based on theology, scripture and liturgical experience that will help us guide each child in the growth and development of a Christian way of life.

  • To facilitate the intellectual, physical, emotional and social development of each child according to individual potentialities and the need for a positive self image.

  • To guide each child to emerge as a self-disciplined, self-reliant, socially conscious witness of Jesus.

  • To provide appropriate aspects of divergent instructional strategies such as flexible grouping, departmentalized classes and other opportunities for creativity, inquiry and discovery in learning.

  • To promote an awareness and appreciation of the important role each individual plays as a member of the global community.

PHILOSOPHY OF ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY

We believe that each child, created by God, is both alike and unique from every other human being. This uniqueness affects each child's acceptance and responsibility toward the school community, and it especially influences each one's learning styles.

In the light of similarities and differences among students, we strive to meet the academic needs, to satisfy the interests, and to develop the abilities of each child.

Further and foremost, our school teaches what it means to be a Catholic, to model one's life on Jesus Christ with the duties and responsibilities involved in living out His message, and with the joy and peace that flows from such fidelity.

We believe that the distinctive purpose of St. Michael Academy is to create a Christian Educational Community where human culture and knowledge, enlightened and enlivened by faith, is shared among teachers, students, families and others who are in our global community
